INVEST! Academy
The INVEST! Academy is designed to inspire high school students to become long-term investors through a fun and engaging approach, incorporating the "INVEST!" comic book, the Harkness Method, an interactive teaching style that encourages open discussion, critical thinking and real-life investment case studies into the curriculum.
This program not only introduces students to the fundamentals of value investing but also fosters a long-term mindset and critical thinking skills that will benefit them throughout their academic and professional journeys.
Under the INVEST! Academy, we currently offer two programs: The Library and The Training Camp.

At Invest! Academy, we make learning about investing engaging, interactive, and practical through four key methods:
Learning through the "Invest!" Comic Book with the Harkness Method
We simplify complex financial concepts using Invest!, our comic book that tells a compelling story about investing. This fun and innovative tool helps students grasp the principles of value investing in an enjoyable way. Using the Harkness Method, instructor encourage students to share their thoughts on specific topics introduced in the comic. Through discussions with peers and the instructor, students articulate their reasoning, actively engage with the material, and develop a thought process similar to that of an investor.
Meet the Lecturers
Shinya Deguchi
Shinya founded Star Magnolia Capital, a family endowment office, in 2012, and has been pioneering the endowment approach in Asia. Prior to Star Magnolia Capital, Shinya worked as Director of Research at Cook Pine Capital LLC, a multifamily office advisor for ultra high net worth families in Japan, over 7 years. Prior to this, he worked at Stewardship Investment Advisors LLC and Melco Holdings, Inc. Shinya graduated from the George Washington University with a B.A. in Economics in 2003. Shinya was born and raised in Ise, Japan.
Tiffany Liu
Tiffany Liu is the Co-Founder of Next Gen Investors Endowment, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing investor education. She also serves as a capital allocator at Star Magnolia Capital, a family endowment office focused on long-term asset growth.
Tiffany earned a dual bachelor’s degree in International Relations and English Language from Tsinghua University, where she was awarded the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clans Scholarship and the Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship for International Students. She also holds an MBA from the University of Oxford, where she deepened her expertise in asset management and sustainable investment.
Ruixiang Tan
Ruixiang Tan graduated from Zhejiang University. During his undergraduate studies, he was an active member of the Generation Z Investment Club for two years and later graduated as an alumnus of the club. After completing his university education, he joined the Gen Z Group, where he is dedicated to providing investment education to younger generations.
Joshua Heng
The youngest on the team, Joshua is an undergraduate of Singapore Management University, where he is currently under the the Global Impact Scholarship. He also serves as the Singapore Chapter CEO in the Generation Z Investment Club and has a deep passion for nurturing the youths of society.
